STAT 400 -- Applied Probability
and Statistics I

Text Jay L. Devore, Probability and Statistics, 6th edition.
Coverage: Chapters 1 - 7, (tentative).
Grading:
- There will be 5 in-class 40-minute tests. The worst will be dropped.
The remaining 4 will constitute the classwork grade.
Every student can make-up one test. To make-up two or more tests
legitimate and well documented reasons should be given for
each absence.
Schedule of tests: Feb. 12, 26, Mar. 11,
Apr. 1, 27.
- There will be a 2-hour cumulative
final exam.
- The best of the classwork grade and the final exam grade will count 66%
towards the semester grade,
the worst will count 34% towards the semester grade.
The students are required to read the book and do homework in pace with
the lectures. Collaboration is allowed on homework but not on tests.
