Course Description:

Homework: The homework is done using the online homework system Webassign. See Webassign at Maryland

There will be four hour tests, given MWF (see the schedule below).

There were be occasional quizzes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, roughly one per week. These will typically be identical to, or very close to, some of the homework problems.

There are no makeups for tests or quizzes. With a valid excuse, you may substitute one-half of your grade on the final for a test grade. The three lowest homework grades are dropped, as are the two lowest quizzes.

Calculators Graphics calculators are used in this course. We recommend the Texas Instruments graphics calculators (TI-82, TI-83). We will furnish information about the use of these calculators. You are welcome to other calculators, but help will be limited. There are homework problems which use the calculators, and they will be discussed in sections.

Calculators are NOT allowed on tests, or on the final.
