The final MAMLS meeting of 1999-2000 will be held at the Mathematics Department of the University of Maryland from Friday afternoon, May 5 to Sunday noon, May 7, 2000.

The Mathematics Department is located in the Mathematics Building, shown as building 84 in this campus map.

Everyone is invited to the meeting. There is no formal registration (hence no registration fee). Graduate students are especially encouraged to attend.

SPEAKERS.

The following speakers have already accepted invitations to give 50-minute talks:

  • Slawomir Solecki (Indiana University)

SCHEDULE.

All talks will be in Room 3206 of the Mathematics Department Mathematics Building. On Friday there will be only one talk, which doubles as the departmental colloquium. Anand Pillay will speak at 3PM on Friday, May 5th, followed by tea across the hall in room 3201.

On Saturday morning, a light breakfast (i.e., bagels) will be served at the Math Department from 9:00 - 10:00 AM, followed by two talks, lunch at noon, and two more talks in the afternoon. There will be a group dinner on Saturday night, followed by a reception at the home of Chris Laskowski.

On Sunday morning, a light breakfast will again be served at the Math Department from 8:30 - 9:30 AM, followed by two talks. The symposium will end by noon on Sunday to allow for travel home that day.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT.

MAMLS is supported by the National Science Foundation through a grant administered via the CUNY Research Foundation. This meeting is supported also by funds from the Mathematics Department of University of Maryland.

It is the policy of MAMLS to reimburse graduate students a flat fee of $25. Requests by graduate students for additional support will be handled on an individual basis. All such requests are best submitted electronically to the conference coordinator Arthur Apter at: AWABB@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU.
