Spring 2002 Meeting of the
Maryland-Penn State Workshop on
Dynamical Systems and Related Topics

March 23-26 (Saturday-Tuesday)
Department of Mathematics
University of Maryland, College Park

This conference was dedicated in part to honoring Joe Auslander, who after this spring will retire from the Maryland mathematics department -- but not from mathematics. The conference had a focus in topological dynamics, although as always topics ranged broadly over dynamics.

Organization

The conference organizers for the Spring 2002 meeting were Ken Berg and Mike Boyle.

The conference hotel was the Hilton in Silver Spring -- further than usual, but nicer. There is a Metro station within easy walking distance (or the Hilton's complimentary van). Transportation to the conference was by a combination of shuttle service and private cars (many of the conference participants came by car).

The Maryland-Penn State Workshop

Beginning in Fall 1990, this workshop has been hosted each spring by the University of Maryland and each fall by Penn State University, and jointly sponsored by the two institutions. The Maryland meetings are supported by the University's Department of Mathematics and Institute for Physical Science and Technology, and by the National Science Foundation.

You can click for past programs of the Maryland conferences, information on Dynamics at Maryland, and the home page of the Center for Dynamical Systems at Penn State, which contains information on the Penn State meetings.
