Homework

Homework is due in class (before class starts) on the day noted.

Homework should not be left in my mailbox or under my door.

Late homework will not be graded.

You are welcomed to discuss the material with each other, but the homework should be done individually.

All homework assignments should have at least one problem that is submitted in LaTeX

Homework #1 (Due February 5)

Read: Introduction to LaTeX

Type (in LaTeX) page 100 from the paper "Particle, Kinetic, and Fluid Models for Phototaxis".  (ignore the red color in the equation numbers, keep it black and white).

Homework #2 (Due February 12)

Download here.

Homework #3 (Due February 19)

Problems 2.1, 2.2, 2.6, 4.4.  In addition, repeat problem 4.4 for an equation of your choice that is linear, second-order, but has variable coefficients.  Make sure that the coefficient of the second derivative does not vanish in the interval so that you do not end up with a degenerate case

Homework #4 (Due February 28)

Problems 5.2, 5.17, 5.8 through 5.11 without proving any error estimates, 4.5.

Homework #5 (Due March 12)
