These are finite groups over the field with q elements. The notation is mostly (but not entirely) standard and self-explanatory.

GL(2,q): 2x2 general linear group

SL(2,q): 2x2 special linear group

PGL(2,q): 2x2 projective general linear group, =GL(2,q)/center

PSL(2,q): SL(2,q)/center
