Math 125 Attendance and Withdrawal Policies, Fall 1999

Attendance

Attendance will be taken through 30 August (the last day to add courses). If you have three or more unexcused absences during this period then you risk being administratively dropped from the class, but might not be.

You should never assume that you will be dropped from the class simply because you are not attending lectures or not taking exams. If you wish to drop the class, you should follow the University Procedures for Changes of Schedule found in the Schedule of Classes.

You are expected (but not required) to attend every scheduled class, and to be familiar with the University Class Attendance Policy found in the General Catalog.

At all times, you are responsible for knowing every topic covered in class (whether or not it is covered in the book), for obtaining all materials distributed in class, and for knowing every change in either a homework assignment, an exam schedule, an office hour, or a course policy that is announced in class. Graded homework and exams will only be returned directly to each student.

Withdrawal and Change to Audit

If you are enrolled in this course for credit then you must withdraw by 17 September if you desire a complete deletion of enrollment from your record. (You may use RSVP to do this.) After 17 September withdrawal is possible with just the consent of the instructor until 15 October . After 15 October withdrawal is possible only in the most extraordinary circumstances and requires the approval of your College Dean. In the case of any withdrawal approved after 17 September a grade of ``W'' is given only if you have an average grade of ``D'' or better at the time; otherwise a grade of ``E'' is given. (This is consistent with the University Drop/Add Policy found in the General Catalog.)

At the same time that you withdraw from the course, you can, with the consent of the instructor, add the course for audit, in which case a grade of ``O'' is given. Such consent will not be given unless you have an average grade of ``D'' or better at the time.
