Grading.
The weighting will be
- 15% Homework (worst 2 or 3 scores don't count)
- 19% Quizzes (worst 2 or 3 scores don't count)
- 36% Three midterm exams (12% each)
- 30% Final Exam
Homework. It will be posted on the course page.
Course Grades.
Here is the correspondence of course grade and
course percentage points scored:
A 90-100%, B 80-89%, C 70-79%, D 60-69%.
F 0-59%. It might
happen that the curve
will be relaxed, but it won't be
made tougher.
Makeups.
Typically, there will not be makeup quizzes or midterms.
A missed quiz is
a zero score, among those dropped. For
a midterm missed with an acceptable excuse,
the grade weighting will adjusted.
**If you know BEFORE an exam that you have a conflict,
CONTACT ME IN ADVANCE. In this case, it is often
possible to arrange an early exam.
**If you know the conflict
in advance and don't contact me in advance, you get zero on the exam.
Religious observances.
If your religion dictates that you cannot take
attend class on some dates with graded events,
or hand in assigned work on a particular date, then contact
me at the beginning of the semester .
Disabilities.
If you have some disability related to testing under the usual timed,
in-class conditions, you may contact the campus
Disability Support
Service (DSS). If they assess you as meriting private
conditions and/or extra time, then you may arrange to take your tests
at DSS, with extra time as they indicate. You must arrange this well in
advance of a test.
