Sophisticated finite elment models have been developed for surface flow. Gray, Kolar, Luettich, Scheffner and Westering have developed a hydrodynamic model based on the generalized wave continuity equation formulation. This method is robust, accurate and suppresses spurious oscillations which plague other models. We discuss a parallel implementation of this model.
