Abstract:   Micromagnetics is a continuum ariational theory describing magnetization pattern in ferromagnetic media. Its multiscale nature due to different inherent spatio-temporal physical and geometric scales, together with nonlocal phenomena and a nonconvex side-constraint leads to a rich behavior and pattern formation. This variety of effects is also the reason for severe problems in constructing reliable numerical methods, which are reviewed in this talk.
