Quantum Systems: A Mathematical Journey from Few to Many Particles

Mean field limits for interacting Bose gases and the Cauchy problem for Gross-Pitaevskii hierarchies

This talk surveys some recent results related to the derivation of the cubic NLS in R^3 from the N-body Schrodinger dynamics of a Bose gas, and the Cauchy problem for Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) hierarchies (joint work with N. Pavlovic). Furthermore, Morawetz identities for GP hierarchies, and the occurrence of blowup solutions are discussed (joint work with N. Pavlovic and N. Tzirakis).
