Basic information
Updated September 27, 2007
The Math Placement Test consists of 67 questions covering arithmetic,
algebra I, algebra II, and trigonometry. It is a timed test.
Non-graphing calculators are allowed. Click HERE
for information on preparation and use of the test. The test is
done on-line. Your DIRECTORY ID is your username,
and your UNIVERSITY password is the
password. The exam should be
completed at least three days before your scheduled
Orientation date.
Results will be given to you by your advisor.
Retakes are allowed after seeing your advisor on your Orientation
Day. These can be taken on-line also.
Current students who are not part of
orientation may take the exam on-line,
once per semester.
In either case, please email place@math.umd.edu
with your name and 9 digit UID (which is on your university
Photo ID) and we will set you up for a retake.
Please allow up to two days for this. You will get an email
reply. After you complete your exam, email place@math.umd.edu
again for the results.
No advising is done over the place@math.umd.edu address. You need to
talk to your advising college.
